Easters Weekend

This Easter weekend Miriam and I went down to Utah to meet up with my family for the holiday. We left Rexburg Friday afternoon and got to SLC just in time for me to do a short little bike race through the city. It was a fun race except for the fact that I got lost and was left to fend for my own of the streets of downtown SLC. The race was put on by an old friend of mine named Tom Millar. He did a great job and had a pretty decent turn out the race was a tribute race. Planed to honor and resemble Paris-Roubaix and Flanders. The race was short but intense it had tons of cobble stones in it, sketchy roads, and two enormous hills that must have been 20-25% grade. The only way up those hills was to do the paper boy, Im not proud of this but at least I didn't have to walk it. After the race we drove down to my aunt Trishes house to spend the night and meet up with the family. Miriam was nervous but did extremely well. She didn't freak out and was able to remember almost everyones name. I was impressed.

When we got up in the morning we meet up with Ty and his roommate James in SLC to do what my dad calls the "gluttony tour". We started by eating fresh Belgium waffles at Burges waffle house. My food was amazing I got a vanilla flavored waffle, covered in Creme and fresh raspberries. Eating one of these things is one of the most delightful things that a human being can experience during his mortal existance. As if that wasn't enough my dad insisted that we drive over to this fancy european pastry shop to get a delish coconut pastry. After forcing down my pastry we decided that we had better head over to gpa and gmas house to relax and prepare for the Easter dinner feast! ( I swear all my family does is eat).

While the food was being cooked Ty brought out his pterra-kite-datyo. It was awesome so James, Ty, and I decided that we were gonna fly it regardless of wether or not there was any wind. Unfortunately our efforts and dreams were short lived when we realized that the only way to get that kite to stay in the sky was to run with it. Since were so lazy and after the "Gluttony Tour" none of us were really feeling that. So we went back to gma house and had a little skate sesh out front of the house. The cool thing was there was a dead rat (flat stanley) in the middle of the road so we did all of our tricks over him. It was fun!

After the dinner, we got down to the important stuff. The easter egg hunt at night in the forest behind Grandpas house. This was my first time doing this and I didn't know what to think, I was a little annoyed that Grandma was making us wait till dark to start but it turned out to be well worth it. There were two eggs with large sums of money in them. The golden egg contained 10$ and the silver egg contained 5$, everyone was looking for them. But of corse yours truly found the golden egg and James found the silver one. It was a ton of fun and I look forward to doing it again next year. All and all it was a great weekend, full of laughs and good memories.

Ill finish my post with a quote from the movie Nacho Libre:

"SeƱor Ramon: Your only job is to cook. Do you not realize I have had diarrhea since Easters?
Nacho: Ok... Maybe I am not meant for these duties. Cooking duty. Dead guy duty. Maybe it's time for me to get a better duty!

Arcade Fire Las Vegas

Well I know this post is over due but I have some great pictures and figure I mine as well upload them. Over the spring break I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to see the Band "The Arcade Fire" play for the first time ever in Las Vegas. While we were waiting for the first band to come on we ran in to the Clark family. We saw Mallory for the first time in years along with her husband, her dad, and Adam it was great to be able to catch up with them. The opening band was called Local Natives they played well but were just there to get us pumped for the main show. When the The Arcade Fire came on the crowd went wild. They were amazing and played for close to 1.5 hours, they played every song that I wanted to hear and best of all was that Nate, Robyn, and I all managed to push and shove our way to the front of the venue. We were literally feet from the feet of the band. I have to say that it was one of the best concerts that I have ever been too.

These next two photos were taken by the photographer from the Las Vegas Sun newspaper.

This is a great picture of Mallory screaming her lungs out

See if you can spot Nate and I, we were getting hype!

Stefan Agers accidently steps off a 400 Meter cliff and somehow avoids being seriously injured. This one goes out for Ty.
Now here are some serious descending skills!
