Memorial Day Weekend

So this weekend was memorial day weekend and the whole family decided to go down to Utah, too enjoy it and to see Nate give his homecoming talk. The weekend started off with a hit! Robyn and Sam meet up with Ty and I to go see a little show in Salt Lake City at Kilby Court. Kilby court is nothing more than a glorified garage where small local bands go to play and hopefully find a nice place to crash for free afterwards. The first band was absolutely terrible I cant even remember there name, the second band was a called Blair. This girl was super talented she played guitar, sang, and the key board. She came out on stage in a Nirvana t-shirt when she opened up her mouth and started to sing I was surprised because it wasn't what I expected. Her music was very relaxing and sounded almost Regina Spektor-ish. Then the third band came on "Say Hi" a small band out of Seattle. They played very well but all things considered I would have to say that the best part of the night was the pre show mexican food and deep fried ice cream who crusty shell tasted like a giant piece of "cinnamon toast crunch".

I spent that first night in davids bed with him... So much for sharing body heat because I nearly froze to death. While in bed I kept having this reoccurring though pass through my head "9,000 people froze to death in the battle of the Bulge" surly its not that cold in here. It wasn't and after about a nice 20 minute defrost shower I started feeling my limbs again.

It was great to see Nate' he looked virtually the same except the fact that he was wearing a very stylish man scarf. After receiving sufficient crap from his uncles they convinced him to take it off and hide it in his man purse. The day was full of laughs, Chucky Cheese, laser tag, and most importantly settlers of Catan. The elderly men played that game almost as much as Uncle Jeff watches t.v. while at our house. It was funny to hear the insults flying back and forth across the table, as they sucked down diet coke.

The next day Nate gave his homecoming talk. He did very well and even blessed us with some stories from his mission. Mom finally let Ty and I sit next together in church for the first time in probably 4 years. Im sure she thought "they are old and mature, and won't do anything stupid" was she ever wrong. Ty and I kept true to our name, and nature and managed to drive our mother insane, in only 65 minutes. Upon returning to the Jello's house for lunch Grandma managed to bring me to a whole new level of embarrassment. Grandma decided to take my eternal salvation into her own hands. I'm assuming because she didn't think I was capable of making it happen on my own. So there I was stuffing my face with expensive French import cheeses and fine crackers when I hear "Tate, Tate come over here" I immediately turn to Aunt Malia looking for some sort of excuse to help me avoid the awkwardness that awaited me, but she was of no help. So being the great grandson that I'm, I obey my beloved Grandmother. She tells me to take a seat in front of two very fit ladies. She then lean forward to the young ladies and pretended to whisper "I told you he was handsome didn't I". That simple phrase managed to turn my face to a shade of red that I didn't know existed. All I can say is thanks for the help Grandma but I've got it from here.

All thing considered it was a great weekend.
XOXO Tate

Tathan America

As many of you know Nathan and I are very musically talented. So one day Nathan came home from the DI stating that he had just bought something that was going to change the purpose of our lives as we know it. When I asked him what it was he quickly pulled a long black case out from behind his back and said “this”. Upon opening the case I realized what it was, a keyboard!!!! Nathan then began to mess with the programed beats, in the keyboards memory system. Once we realized how good we were he had an epiphany “we need to start a band” After several long hours we came up with a great name of TATHAN AMERICA. Tathan America is currently working on there first EP, which will be released semi-soonish (we hope). The best part about being in a band is unofficial ticket to raise Hell, and the girls.
One of these freebies is the following: One day I in the bathroom picking a zit (so in other words I was super focused and about 2 inches away from the mirror). Nathan came to the entrance of our bathroom and said “Hey Tate, Hey Tate look at me”. Like I mentioned earlier I was occupied so I just ignored him until I couldn’t handle anymore nagging from him. So I turn to him and said “WHAT”!!!!! Nathan immediately started to laugh and then sprayed me with the kitchen fire extinguisher from head to toe. The bathroom immediately filled up with smoke and so did my lungs. Once I was able to gain composure of my breathing and sight again I was able to ask him why he did that. His response was simple “Dude were in a band and that’s what band members do”. It was so funny that I couldn’t get mad. But that’s not all like I said the bathroom filled up smoke that smoke spilled into the hallway setting off not only the apartments fire alarm but the whole buildings alarm system.
Our manager came busting into the apartment and was like “what happened” Nathan to avoid getting into trouble said the only thing that made sense “Ahhhhh the George Foreman grill burnt my food”. The manager seemed satisfied with Nates response and left screaming, “Call the fire department and tell them it was a false alarm”.
And that is how Tathan America got started; a keyboard, a fire extinguisher and two extremely talented people.

XOXO

Shredding da Snow Park 2-12-11

I, Nathan Dunkley, will be guest blogging today.  Today Tate, Austin Shoemake, and I decided that we needed to shred the gnar.  We "borrowed" some snow shovels from a stairwell and headed off the the rexburg skate park.  Upon arriving we found a foot of snow with a surprise six inches of ice underneath.  Even though we were met with this disappointment we set about on the tedious task of clearing the half-pipe of snow and ice.  After about half an hour we realized that it just wasn't happening, so Tate dared Austin to drop in to the half pipe of snow and ice on his skateboard.  Austin didn't want to look like a baby so of coarse he did it, or at least tried.  He actually slammed pretty hard but it was worth it because Tate was able to snap some sweet photos of the crash.  All in all it was a good time.

Once we finished skating we decided that since we were at the park we might as well go feed the ducks.  We got to the duck area and were able to see a huge moose grazing on some leaves so that was sweet.  Shortly after we got there some ladies showed up so we had to show them how tough we were by feeding the ducks bread that was sticking out of our mouths and catching them with our bare hands.  Obviously they were impressed.  So right before we left Tate and I being the great friends we are took a piece of paper, wrote a sweet note to those ladies, signed it Austin Shoemake and his phone #, and then stuck it under their windshield.  Yeah, Austin is so gonna score because of us.

Good Day

Horse Feathers

Well this is old news, but Ty and I went to see the band Horse Feathers at Kilby court in Salt Lake City. The show was great the band "Y la Bamba" opened and played a 45 minute set, then Horse Feathers played there set which lasted about an 1.5 hours. Here are a few pictures that I took via my iphone and a short video. Defiantly a great show and worth the trip down to SLC to see them.

Sobe Bottle Cap

So I have always love drinking Sobe drinks, and Jones Soda because of the phrases that are on the bottom of the caps. But this one reaffirmed that love!

What a classic!!!!
